Wine Fridges
What's the difference between "Single Zone" and "Dual Zone"?
Firstly, let's look at what a "Zone" is exactly. A "Zone" when talking about wine fridges refers to a temperature-controlled storage compartment. So a Single Zone wine fridge has only one temperature-controlled storage compartment, whereas a Dual Zone wine fridge has two temperature-controlled storage compartments. This means you can keep wines at different temperatures in a Dual Zone wine fridge (great for storing whites in one zone and chilled reds in another) whereas in a Single Zone, all the wines will be at the same temperature.
How many bottles of wine does a typical wine fridge hold?
Most undercounter wine fridges will hold up to ~50 bottles of wine however it also depends on the width of the fridge as well as other factors. Freestanding wine fridges can hold significantly more wine. On the Luxe Homes Direct site we've added a 'Bottle Capacity' filter to make things easier for you
What is meant by "panel ready" when you're talking about wine fridges?
"Panel ready" means that the wine fridge is designed to be integrated into either standard or custom joinery to create a seamless look in the space you're installing the fridge. If you had Oak kitchen cabinetry for instance, an Oak panel could be attached to the front of the fridge so it blends in with the rest of the cabinetry.
Pizza Ovens
What is a "Hybrid" pizza oven?
A Hybrid pizza oven refers to the fuel sources of the oven being both wood-fired and gas fired. The traditional pizza oven is wood-fired which gives a smokey taste to the pizzas whereas the modern gas fired ovens often heat quicker than their wood-fired equivalents, are easier to clean and more convenient overall. The hybrid pizza oven intertwines the traditional with the modern.
Is a Wood-Fired, Hybrid or Gas pizza oven better?
Choosing which fuel source to select for your pizza oven really depends on what you plan to use it for and personal preference. If you're after the traditional smoked pizza flavor then we'd recommend a wood-fired oven, however if you want an efficient, clean and convenient way to cook pizzas - then a gas oven may be right for you.
A gas oven will also usually heat the dome and center of the oven faster but the floor of the oven slower as no coals are resting on the floor transferring heat between the floor tiles. Wood-fired ovens do also boast the natural aesthetic of burning wood which can be a party center-piece.
Then there is the hybrid option, that combines the best of both the wood-fired authentic taste, aesthetic and floor heating properties with the heating properties and heat control of a gas powered oven!
Why would I buy a DIY Kit pizza oven vs an already made one?
DIY Kit Pizza Ovens are the answer when you want the pizza oven to be fully integrated into the appearance of the space you're installing it. Freestanding pizza ovens are a fantastic alternative to this if you like the finish of the oven, with some being very ornate with mosaic tile finishes available in a variety of colors.
Some pizza ovens are portable which makes them great for moving around the property or taking camping or to a friend's or family member's place to heat things up a little!
Home Theaters
What are the most important factors in deciding which projector to buy?
A projector's 'Brightness', 'Resolution' and 'Contrast' are considered by many to be the most important features of a projector at determining its performance. In addition to this, the projector's light source (laser or lamp), 'Aspect Ratio' and 'Throw Ratio' are all things that should be taken into account when purchasing a projector.
Why is a projector's Brightness important and how is it measured?
The Brightness of a projector determines how viewable the image will be in a well-lit space. Brightness is typically measured in ANSI lumens or ISO lumens (close equivalent to ANSI lumens). The higher the brightness (lumens) the brighter the image will be.
Less brightness is required in darker viewing environments (such as a home theater rooms) compared to more lumens (brightness) required in a family room filled with an abundance of natural light to project an easily viewable image.
How do different Resolutions effect a projector's image quality?
Resolution refers to the number of pixels used to create an image and affects how sharp and detailed the projected image will be on the screen. The greater the resolution, the greater the number of pixels for a given image size and the greater the detail that will be revealed of the image.
The numbers in a specific resolution (i.e. 4K UHD 3840 x 2160) refer to the resolution's pixel measurement expressed as width x height. For 4K UHD resolution it is 3840 pixels wide x 2160 pixels high, for a total of 8,294,400 pixels.
What is Contrast and why is it important for a projector?
Put simply, Contrast is the difference in brightness between the brightest white and the darkest black a specific projector can produce expressed as a ratio (i.e. a 5,000:1 contrast ratio means that the brightest white was 5,000 times brighter than the darkest black). The higher the contrast ratio, the greater the difference in brightness and the deeper the blacks will appear. Without good contrast, images will appear faded or washed out.
